About AT AT Help

Welcome to the Anarchist Tool.

The word Anarchist may conjure an image of a scowling, bearded fiend pulling a big round bomb from under his coat. There were anarchists like that in the past — back in the 1890's. But put that image aside. It doesn't represent anarchism today, and it certainly has nothing to do with the Anarchist Tool.

Anarchism today refers to just about any system with an egalitarian, non-coercive, and non-authoritarian structure. The word comes from the Greek and means without leaders. And that is the sense of the word that applies to the Anarchist Tool.

This is a tool for non-authoritarian decision making. It is intended to help groups of people make collective decisions in which everyone's concerns are raised and addressed. The methods used here come out of an anarchist tradition of facilitation in which there are no leaders — or in which everyone is a leader.

The Anarchist Tool is only a tool; it won't make decisions for you, or make your decisions more informed or wiser. And it may even take some effort on your part to learn how to use it well. A good place to get started is AT Help.
